Fun Things to Do This June
On May 28, 2025 by Calgary's ChildIt’s finally time to say hello to the blooming flowers, robins, baby bunnies and endless activities that will get your family off their screens and out of the house!
As the weather warms up, we are all shaking off the winter blues and coming out of hibernation looking for fun in the sun. Anticipation for the approaching summer is high but there are plenty of exciting things to do in and around Calgary while we wait.
Family Fun Hour at The Confluence
Play, create and explore together as each week brings a new theme packed with hands-on activities for kids ages toddler to 11. Themes include insects in the garden, flowers in bloom, sowing seeds, T is for tree, and art in the garden. There’s always something exciting to discover, so join the fun! Learn more at theconfluence.ca.
Find a new playground
With the return of warm weather and green grass comes the return of playground season! Tired of playgrounds with the same boring equipment? Check out these unique playgrounds for some fun adventures – South Glenmore Park Playground, Ramsay Inclusive Playground, Alpine Park Natural Playground and Northwest Commons Park Playground.
TELUS Spark Banquet Exhibit
A mind-blowing exploration of food, culture, and science. Pull up a chair as TELUS Spark presents Banquet. This immersive exhibition explores the science and joy of food through sight, smell, touch, taste, and sound. From the chemistry of cooking to the cultural traditions that shape how we eat, Banquet blends science with art, history, and society to create a truly sensory journey. Learn more at sparkscience.ca.
Commemorate National Indigenous History Month
There are dozens of events in and around Calgary meant to honour National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day. These events feature music and dance performances, markets, tipi raisings and more. Check out the Calgary’s Child Magazine online calendar to learn all the details.
Central Commons Park
Central Commons Park is a stunning destination where families can play, rest and enjoy the great outdoors all year round. This three-acre space is described as a “seasonless signature destination” made for social, cultural and recreational events.
Watch the sunset
Calgary has many scenic places to watch the sun go down. If you want to take some golden hour family photos, these are some of the best places to do it – Scotman’s Hill, McHugh Bluff Park, Bellevue Avenue and North Glenmore Park.
Shop in Kensington
With the morning ahead and plenty to discover, Kensington is the perfect spot for a little shopping. Flip through stacks of vinyl at Hot Wax Records, browse three floors of books at Pages on Kensington, or find unique stationery at Nanao Kimono. You will need some java and food to fuel all that shopping. Stop in at Higher Ground, the city’s oldest still-operating coffee house that first opened its doors in 1982.
Get Pumped at a Pump Track
Bike pump tracks are progressive circuits where riders use an up and down pumping motion to propel the bike forward instead of pedaling. Increasingly popular among Calgarians, pump tracks are perfect for practicing balance, learning skills and improving confidence on a bike. If you looking to pass the day in the fresh air, pack some lunches, bring an umbrella for shade and settle in.
Spruce Meadows EPIC Weekends
Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during June and July tournaments, you can enjoy unlimited access to Movie Nights at the Meadows, live music at the Scotiabank Stage, and the Kids’ Zone at Spruce Meadows. You can also explore vibrant shopping and food experiences and take in world-class show jumping (general admission seating areas) — all included with your entrance fee. Learn more at sprucemeadows.com.
Get a Bargain at a Garage Sale
‘Tis the season – for garage sales that is! Many communities in Calgary coordinate parades of garage sales that make the drive worth it. Hit several sales in a row and pick up a bargain while discovering treasures you didn’t know you needed. Check your favourite community’s social media pages or website for details.
