Spooktacular Halloween Events
On October 10, 2024 by Calgary's ChildBoo! The spookiest night of the year is almost upon us. Calgary hosts many events during Halloween for little ghosts and goblins.
Whether your kids are toddlers dressed as tiger, kingly kiddos, pirate pre-teens or terrifying teens, here’s a list of what’s happening in and around Calgary to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve.
October 11 to 26; Field of Screams. This eerie event is turning Cobb’s Adventure Park into a terrifying, thrilling and spine-tingling terror show. Brought to you by Screamworks Inc., this Halloween inspired outdoor event is sure to bring horrifying fear into the hearts of haunted house attendees. Learn more at fieldofscreams.ca.
October 11 to 31; ScreamFest. ScreamFest is Canada’s largest and scariest Halloween event. At ScreamFest you will experience haunted houses, Halloween-themed carnival games, creepy and disturbing entertainment, and fear at GMC Stadium. Learn more at screamfest.ca.
October 12 to 13 and 19 to 20; The Boo Revue. The Boo Revue is a family friendly, frightfully fun show on October 12 and 13 at Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge and October 19 and 20 at Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton. October 12 and 20, 2 to 3pm; True Crime Tour: Hangings, Homicides & History at The Confluence (16+). Go beyond ghosts and hauntings and delve into the startling tales of murder, crime, and execution that occurred in Calgary’s early days and reflect on how these stories are important today. October 16 to 22; Airscares – Fear Factory. Airscares by BGC Airdrie Club is back at 1200 705 Main Street. This year’s theme is Fear Factory. Came to enjoy the haunt, but became so terrified that you must leave? Just yell our safe word “UNICORN”! October 18, 6 to 10pm; Radical Reptile – Capitol Hill Creepshow. Ghouls and goblins of all ages will enjoy getting up close and personal with live reptiles on October 18. October 19, 1:30 to 4:30pm; Treat Accessibly Halloween Village. Treat Accessibly Halloween Villages are intended for children with disabilities and their families, allowing them to experience curb-side and accessible trick-or-treating with each other and with local neighborhood kids. The goal is to create a safe and fun Halloween experience for all kids, with and without disabilities, and their parents. On October 19, your family can enjoy this experience in the Kensington area. October 20, 12:15 to 3:30pm; Trunk or Treat at the Chestermere Public Library. What is a Trunk-or-Treat? Instead of going door-to-door, children go from vehicle-to-vehicle to get treats. Vehicles sponsored by local businesses gather in the parking lot and hand out treats from their decorated car trunks to children in costume. Learn more at chestermere.macaronikid.com.
October 24, 5 to 7pm; Halloween Campfire Tales. The CampLand Institute for Leisurely Pursuits and CPAWS Southern Alberta invite you to join for the first Campfire Tales, an evening of supernatural, spine-tingling fun! Enjoy treats like s’mores and hot chocolate around a cozy indoor campfire, while they share frightful stories of Alberta’s vanishing wildlife and wilderness. Costumes are encouraged. October 24 to 27; Heritage Park Ghoul’s Night Out. Get ready for a spooktacular adventure as Ghouls’ Night Out joins forces with Haunted Calgary for a Halloween experience like no other. October 25 to 26; Strathmore Halloween – Stampede Fright Night. Friday night is the Boo Bash, with scary mazes, kids’ activities, pumpkin carving, and more. Saturday is for adults only. Learn more at strathmoreag.com.
October 26, 10am to 4pm; The Hangar Flight Museum: Haunted Pumpkin Hunt. This creepy day of fun includes a scavenger hunt, bingo, a flying bat craft and more. Learn more at thehangarmuseum.ca.
October 26, 1 to 3pm; Family Halloween Hike: Tricks and Treats of the Wild! Join for a Spooky Family Halloween Hike: Tricks and Treats of the Wild at Fish Creek Provincial Park. October 26, 2 to 5:30pm; Dash of Doom: Calgary’s Halloween Run! Run Calgary invites you to be a part of Calgary’s most eerie-sistible Halloween event! October 26, 6 to 10pm; Creepshow in Capitol Hill: Halloween Dance Party. Get ready for a frightfully fun evening at the Capitol Hill Community Association. This all-ages Halloween dance party promises spooky music, dancing, and plenty of Halloween spirit. The canteen will be open, and Family Fry Guy Food Truck will be serving dangerously delicious eats. October 27, 12 to 2pm; LEGO Store Make and Take: Halloween Spider. LEGO Halloween Spider make and take event is intended for participants aged six and older. Rather than going door-to-door, kids go trunk-to-trunk, collecting candies from different vehicles that have been set up and decorated in a parking lot.
