The leaves are changing colors and the nights are getting colder – that means it’s harvest time! We’re blessed to be surrounded by plenty of farmland and that means there are festivals a-plenty this time of year. Bundle up in flannel, get your cozy sweater on and have fun!
Harvest Pumpkin Hunts at Butterfield Acres Farm
Sep 4 – Oct 27; Tickets are on sale now! Harvest Pumpkin Hunts at Butterfield Acres Farm takes place place weekends in October. Off you will go on a tractor-pulled hay wagon, rolling through the crunchy Fall leaves, hoping to find some kid-sized pumpkins! Then you will decorate them into creative masterpieces to take home and, of course, visit with the farm animals, too! Must purchase tickets in advance; call 403-239-0638 or visit the website.
Date Night Down on the Farm – Harvest Pumpkin-Style
October 5, 11, 12, 19 & 26; Tickets on sale now. Join Butterfield Acres after-hours for a fun Fall evening! Perfect for a night out with your special someone, a girls’ night, or grab a big group of friends! The farmyard opens for visits with the animals at 5pm, until the hunt starts at 6:15pm. From there, you will go on a sunset tractor-pulled wagon ride out through the back pasture to the pumpkin patch. Once everyone has found their pumpkin, you will head back to Prairie Palace for pumpkin carving! Outside, there will be a campfire and enjoy hot chocolate and s’mores. It’s harvest fun at its best! There are a limited number of tickets available for each night. This event sold out last year, so buy your tickets early! Tickets are only available to purchase online (no ticket sales at the door). Tickets are $19.99 plus GST.
Autumn Pumpkin Festival at Calgary Farmyard
Oct 5 – 27; Takes place Saturdays & Sundays in October, including Thanksgiving weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday). Autumn Pumpkin Festival at Calgary Farmyard. Meet a superhero, pick out the perfect pumpkin, see a magic show, go on a pony ride, get your face painted, decorate a mini pumpkin, load up on candy at the Great Pumpkin Explosion, and spend hours at over 30 attractions! Fall Fest at Kayben Farms
October 5 & 6, 12 & 13, 19 & 20, and 26; Fall Fest at Kayben Farms! A wonderful Fall event just 10 minutes south of Calgary. There will be pumpkins, wagon rides, face painting, games, photo sessions, pony rides, s’mores, crafts, pumpkin cannon, and kits for a cause in support of the Mustard Seed! October 10 – 11; Join the Calgary Farmer’s Market for a Thanksgiving Pie Bake-Off! What pie will be on your Thanksgiving table? Here is how it works: Make a cash donation to the Calgary Food Bank (recommended $5 per person). Sample the delicious pies. Vote for your favorite. Oct 26; The Common Threads Collective is a curated semi-annual market where local small shops come together as a community. Autumn/Winter or Spring/Summer collections are showcased for local parents to explore and purchase. Wymbin, a children’s yoga studio, will be sponsoring the event and crafting activities for children while parents visit or shop! Website.
