The Ultimate 2019 Summer Road-Trip Fight-the-Boredom Pack!
On July 23, 2019 by Calgary's Childprovided by Country Hills Nissan
Meet Sara Weber. She’s a mother of two active and rambunctious 2- and 4-year old girls, Alana and Kelly, and, while balancing her corporate career and mom life, she has developed a series of “mom hacks” that have helped make her life easier.
Sara and her husband are busy planning their summer getaway to Jasper during the August long weekend. She can already predict this 6-hour long road trip will undoubtedly be filled with frequent pee/snack/mom-I-have-got-ants-in-my-pants pit stops.
While she prefers having her daughters engage in play that educates and develops their skills, on many occasions, she has succumbed to giving her girls their iPads to keep them occupied.
This year, she is determined to break the cycle of unnecessary screen time. Sara is excited to introduce the latest addition to her super-mom arsenal: The Ultimate 2019 Summer Road-Trip Fight-the-Boredom Pack! Not only has she shared the secrets of her arsenal with her inner circle of mommy friends, but she’s excited to spill the beans to all of you:
1) Sticker Books
Kids of all ages love sticker books. Let their imaginations run wild and let them use a colouring book, their car seat, arms, legs, side of the car door as their canvas!
2) Kids Music on Spotify
No parent will have trouble following along the words to their children’s favourite
tunes. Family sing-a-longs are a great bonding experience!
3) Paint-with-Water Colouring Pads
The last thing any parent wants is to be scrubbing pencil crayon and marker scribbles out of the car’s upholstery. The perfect solution is a water art colouring pad. Simply fill the paint brush with water and watch your child’s delight as colors appear with every brush stroke.
4) Books
For children who love to read, pack a few of their favourites for the road trip. To break up the monotony, check out a few children’s audiobooks from the Calgary library to create a more interactive reading experience.
5) Bring on the Snacks
Toddlers get hungry – and when they don’t get their food in time, a tantrum can quickly follow. Pack their favourite snacks to keep them happy and avoid a meltdown. A few easy and healthy on-the-go snack ideas include: baby carrots, whole wheat crackers, string cheese, or fresh cut fruit.
For their safe and reliable Nissan Rogue or, as they like to call it, “home-on-wheels,” Sara and her family put their trust in Country Hills Nissan. The team at Calgary’s newest and Canada’s largest Nissan dealership listened and understood the specific needs and requirements of Sara’s busy family and lifestyle.
Let Country Hills Nissan help you find the wheels that will transport your family safely and fit all your family’s essentials to every destination. We wish all of you (and Sara and her family) safe and happy adventures this summer!
