What’s Up This Spring Break?
On March 17, 2022 by Calgary's ChildMarch 19 to 20; The Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show at the BMO Centre, Alberta’s largest showcase of outdoor gear and adventure travel experiences. Explore the different zones, like the Adventure Travel Zone, the Camping Showcase, or the Health and Wellness Zone. Tickets are $10 for everyone 12+ and included with your ticket, you can also visit the Alberta Bike Show.
March 20; Calgary Hitmen Sunday Funday, Come check out the concourse activities and enjoy special food and beverage pricing. Plus, there will be in-game family entertainment. Adult tickets are $17.49 and kids’ tickets are $11.49.
March 21 to 25; Cineplex March Break Movies, If you’re free during the week, watching a movie during the Cineplex March Break Family Favourites is a great way to have fun on a budget this March Break. there will be 4 March Break Family Favorites showing at participating theatres. Be sure to check your local theatre before you go.
March 26, 7 to 9:30 pm; Earth Hour Unplugged, as a part of global Earth Hour, head to the Central Library for a celebration of community and environmental sustainability. You’ll find live music and dancing, games, crafts, and interactive displays. Your family will learn how to collaborate on energy reduction while you enjoy community!
March 21 to 25, Landmark Cinemas Spring Break Movies, Get the kids out of the house this spring break, with $3 movies playing at their Calgary theatres. They have four popular family movies to choose from. Check your theatre’s showtime page to see what’s playing.
March 21 to 25, 11am; Indigo Kids Presents: March Break Storytime, entertain your kids and discover new books with IndigoKids and Chapters. Contact your local store for specifics and fill your break with wonderful books.
March 21 to 25; Mastermind Toys March Break Take and Make, The toy store is hosting free take-and-make giveaways for spring break every day. Check with your local store to ensure availability before you go and get ready to test some toys.
March 21 to 25, 11am to 2 pm; Toy R US Spring Break, Toys R Us has something planned for every day of March break including a dough sculpting party, scavenger hunts and story time. Check with your local store for details.
March 22 to 23, 10am to 3:30pm; Guided Fish Hatchery Tour at Bow Habitat Station, join a 30-minute guided tour of the Fish Hatchery to learn about how trout are raised from egg to adults, and the role that recreational stocking plays in Alberta. This program includes an opportunity to feed thousands of fish in the burrows ponds.
March 25, 7 and 7:30pm; Heritage Park Ghost Tours, visit Heritage Park after dark for a guided ghost tour through the streets and alley ways of the Historical Village. Behind the Park’s old-fashioned charm lie stories of otherworldly encounters, spine-tingling history and some memorable manifestations.

Beginning March 1; Quantum Sandbox at TELUS Spark, a digital immersion gallery like nothing before, where guests find themselves in a world of colours, sounds, movement and energy. The 3,000 square foot interactive pixel wonderland is a 25-minute loop where guests explore 5 physics principles. Learn more and buy tickets at sparkscience.ca.
March 17 to October 27, 3 to 6pm; National Music Centre’s Jam Club. Join the National Music Centre’s free after-school Jam Club program! Youth ages thirteen to nineteen are invited to jam, practice their skills, and explore their creative potential, all while making new friends, every Thursday at Studio Bell.
Until March 29; The Festival of Animated Objects, this festival brings world-class artists to engage and entertain audiences of all ages through the innovative and sophisticated art of storytelling through mask, puppetry, and animated objects. Locations include: cSPACE King Edward, Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton, Canadian Grain Elevator Discovery Centre and online screening is available. Until April 15; Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition, if you love an immersive gallery experience, you’ll want to know about Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, coming to Calgary in March and April 2022! Step into the world of Michelangelo and experience the Sistine Chapel like never before. The exhibit uses state-of-the-art technology, as Michelangelo’s masterpieces stretch floor-to-ceiling and are closer than ever. Get tickets at sistinechapelexhibit.com.
Until March 21, 10:30 to 11am; Penguin Walk at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. The king penguin colony heads out on the grounds for a daily enrichment walk. This incredible program allows you to get an up-close look at the group of king penguins as they explore, exercise, and waddle their way through the zoo. Until April 14, Nightrise combines multimedia, storytelling, and nature at the Banff Gondola for a multi-sensory journey like no other. The event will bring light and sound together to share a new and inspiring perspective in the heart of the Rockies. At Sulphur Mountain’s peak, guests can explore the many levels of the summit building and enjoy Rockies-inspired eats and drinks. Outside on the viewing decks, discover wonders that only emerge as the night begins to rise.
You can shop till you drop and go skating all in one visit to the mall, with the addition of new ice rinks at Southcentre in Calgary. Top Deck, a community initiative supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area, features two outdoor skating rinks located on the upper level of the parkade at the east end of Southcentre Mall.
