Celebrate our fine country’s birthday in style this year with our list of the best parades, children’s events, barbeques, cultural experiences, fireworks and more!

July 1; Celebrate Canada Day at Spruce Meadows, Spruce Meadows is planning a Canada Day party, while they are hosting the Pan-American horse jumping competition from June 29 to July 2. There will be activities for the whole family throughout the day, including a musical ride, show dogs, a Kids’ Zone, shopping and, of course, the show jumping. Learn more at sprucemeadows.com.

July 1, 9am to 5pm; Canada Day at Granary Road, take part in goat yoga, an animal parade, Canadian trivia, a hot dog eating contest, and a Canadian scavenger hunt. (Registration is required for some activities.) Learn more at granaryroad.com.

July 1, 9am to 6pm; Celebrate Canada D’Eh at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo! Moose, beavers and maple, oh my! Celebrate our nation’s birthday in red-and-white style with family and friends at the zoo. Indulge with Canadian cuisine like maple bacon poutine and Canada burger (exclusively available on Canada Day). There will be biofact stations for all ages to explore, tattoo stations so you can proudly display your maple leaf, and a photo-op with a larger-than-life beaver, all while supporting the conservation of our nationally treasured species. July 1, 10am to 5pm; Celebrate Canada Day at Studio Bell, visitors can explore Canada’s musical mosaic through new exhibitions, catch some live music performances by Canadian artists, and enjoy hands-on activities for the whole family across multiple floors all for free. July 1, 10am to 5pm; Heritage Park Canada Day Events, experience the past, celebrate the present and discover the future of this amazing country. July 1, 10am to 8pm; BownessFest 2023 Canada Day Festival, featuring an unforgettable line-up of musical and cultural performers, mouth-watering dishes from some of the city’s hottest food trucks, incredible products at the outdoor market, including handmade and artisan goods, as well as a free community barbeque, face painting, carnival games, and more at the grounds of Our Lady of Assumption School. July 1, 10:45am to 5pm; City of Calgary Canada Day Celebrations – Olympic Plaza, check out ArtsXpeditions presented by Arts Commons. Enjoy local music, children’s art activities, dance, poetry, Chinese lion dances, Tai Chi and martial arts performances. Learn more at calgary.ca.

July 1, 11am to 3pm; Springs Church Canada Day Outdoor Carnival, admission is $5 per person (ages three and older) or $20 for a family. (Only available for purchase on Canada Day during the event) There are loads of planned activities, including a Butterfield Acres petting zoo, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course and climbing tower, balloon animals, eating contests, a science show, and more.

July 1, 11am to 6pm; Canada Day at the Chinese Cultural Centre, a day filled with excitement, entertainment, and a true sense of Canadian spirit. Check out a vendor market, featuring a diverse array of merchandise and food options. Experience live performances, showcasing local talents and cultural showcases. July 1, 11 to 11:30pm; City of Calgary Canada Day Celebrations – Fireworks, Canada Day will end with a fireworks show at approximately 11pm. launched from Stampede Park. The display will light up the sky in the downtown core and surrounding areas. Watch the fireworks from Fort Calgary or from one of many other great viewing areas in the city. July 1, 12 to 4:30pm; Canada Day at the Central Library, free activities and programs to celebrate and recognize Canada’s many stories. Activities will include a special storytime, a spoken word performance, Métis music, films, and more. Learn more at calgarylibrary.ca.

July 1, 12 to 8pm; Eau Claire Canada Day Market, supporting local vendors, artisans, entrepreneurs and designers to showcase their talent in a fun and safe place.

July 1, 1 to 3pm; Canada Day at Prairie Winds Park, over the years, Canada Day Celebrations at Prairie Winds Park have become one of city’s premier events attended by thousands of Calgarians representing diverse communities and is growing in its magnitude every year. The event will include flag hoisting and national anthem presented by a group of children, a barbeque, recreational activities and games for kids. Learn more at celebratecanada.ca.

July 1, 1pm to 12am; Canada Day at The King Eddy, celebrate Canada Day and the King Eddy’s five-year anniversary with family-friendly live music on the King Eddy rooftop and mainstage from 1pm until close. Learn more at studiobell.ca.

July 1, 1:30 to 4pm; Canada Day: Reflections from Stories of Exclusion, enjoy Lion Dance by the Jing Wo Cultural Association starting at 1:30pm, outside the cSpace Eau Claire Neighbourhood Hub. Then, welcome the Stories of Exclusion artists for a discussion facilitated by Brian Wong from 2 to 4pm inside the Hub. The Stories of Exclusion project sheds light on how Chinese Calgarians and their families have been affected by the Chinese Immigration Act, which was passed 100 years ago on Dominion Day (now known as Canada Day). July 1, 11pm; Lynx Ridge Golf Club Canada Day Fireworks, northwest Calgary’s biggest firework display July 1 at Lynx Ridge Golf Club.

Celebrating Outside the City

June 30 to July 1; Celebrate Canada Day with Century Downs Racetrack and Casino! Kick off the celebrations on June 30, with live harness racing and an outdoor concert from Contraband, followed by a spectacular fireworks show. July 1; Airdrie Canada Day Parade and Fireworks, the annual parade takes place on Main Street at 10am and the fireworks light up the sky over Chinook Winds Park at 10:45pm. Learn more at airdrieparades.com.

July 1; Banff Canada Day, celebrate Canada’s rich heritage by exploring the activities and performances happening in the downtown core. From family-friendly entertainment, to engaging arts and crafts, to amazing musical acts, there is something for everyone. Learn more at banff.ca.

July 1, 9am to 11pm; Chestermere Canada Day, immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Canada through performances at the Pavilion Stage, featuring renowned artists such as Wild Mint Arts, Abstract Dance Academy, and Young Bhangra. July 1, 9am to 2pm; Canada Day in Canmore, the Canada Day celebration that you know and love is back for another summer. It will be a day jam-packed with activities for the whole family. July 1, 10am to 5pm; Bar U Ranch Canada Day, free admission for all! Come and celebrate Canada’s birthday, at Canada’s Ranch. July 1, 10am to 6pm; Millarville Races, celebrate the day with friends and family with an always entertaining day of racing.
